Purpose. The article aims to study the main directions of creative interaction between N. Karamzin and the heritage of K. Moritz, a prominent representative of the German Enlightenment, a meeting with which is shown on the pages of "Letters of a Russian Traveler". Methodology and Approach. The author analyzed the scene of the meeting of the hero-traveler with Moritz to reveal the conceptual meaning underlying the representation of the creative heritage of the German writer in the book of Karamzin. By a comparative study of the initiation motive in Moritz and Karamzin, the particularity of its disclosure in the presented authors is specified. Results. In the course of the work, comparable plot situations were revealed, as well as figurative and symbolic series, allowing to clarify the specifics of Karamzin's creative processing of the principles of Moritz, the writer in exposing the motive of initiation. Theoretical and / or Practical Implications. The author was able to update the problems of a comparative analysis of the works of K. Moritz and N. Karamzin, which in the future allows new opportunities to be explored in the study of the context of world literature on the pages of "Letters of a Russian Traveler".

Purpose. The purpose of the article is to analyze the research history of central themes and motives of Mikhail Lermontov’s works through critics’ articles published during his lifetime in the period from 1840-1841. Methodology and Approach. The main themes and motives of Lermontov’s poetry, which seemed important for his generation, were analyzed through critics’ articles on his works. Theoretic, critical and biographical methods were applied. Results. Our study revealed the main themes and motives of Mikhail Lermontov’s works mentioned in critics’ articles published during his lifetime, thus reflecting the integrity of the motive-thematic structure of Lermontov’s work as a whole. Theoretical and / or Practical Implications. The article provides a comprehensive overview of Mikhail Lermontov’s lifetime publications and their criticism. The article has historical and literary significance and may be of interest not only to philologists but also to readers interested in Lermontov’s works.

The purpose of the article is to analyze the features of the poetics of Pater's story "The Child in the house" (the specifics of the narrative, the memory-perception of the author and the characters, the traditions of romanticism, impressionistic elements of the writer's style). Methodology and Approach. The article is based on a holistic historical and literary analysis of the work, with elements of cultural and semiotic approaches. Results. The programmatic value of the work is proved, the author of which, following the philosophical and aesthetic thoughts of contemporaries (Heidegger, Bergson), foresaw the ideas of modernism, the Proust poetics of searching for lost time, created the innovative concept of childhood, the formation of the aesthetic conscience of the character - the Man of Art. Theoretical and / or Practical Implications. The results of the study expand and deepen the understanding of the work of one of the most significant representatives of English aestheticism; it can be used in lecture courses and practical classes in the University curriculum in foreign literature of the second half of the 19th century.

Purpose. The purpose of this work is to reveal the author's position on gender issues related to the role of women in the family. Methodology and Approach. The article discusses Veresaev's memories about his childhood and his autobiographical story «Euthymia» about the tragic fate of a family. The textual analysis revealed the influence of the writer's mother on his idea of a woman as a spouse, a parent, and a public figure. Results. In conclusion, the author's vision of the importance of spiritual, intellectual, and psychological integrity of women is presented. Theoretical and / or Practical Implications. The importance of the image of a woman formed by Veresaev for solving the "women's issue" in the modern reality is noted.

The purpose of the article is to characterize a particular circle of contacts of the writer and historiographer and to reveal the values of his inner world in the aspect of the problem "N. Karamzin and his circle". Methodology and Approach. The author examines Karamzin's requests addressed to Emperor Alexander I and his senior officials concerning his friends, acquaintances, writers in need, and other people regarding restoration of justice, legality, provision of material assistance, and recognition of their merits. Based on the analysis of the archive materials and Karamzin's correspondence, the article clarifies and enhances the existing view on his relationship with the tsar. Particular attention is paid to Karamzin's justification of his proximity to the court as an opportunity to do good to people.. The results of the study allow us to note the characteristic features of Karamzin's personality and his understanding of the meaning of life as doing good. The Theoretical and / or Practical Implications of the work lies in the utilization and analysis of rare archive materials and little-known publications, allowing to clarify and detail the facts of N. Karamzin's biography and his personality traits. The obtained data will be used in compiling the dictionary-reference "N. Karamzin and his circle."

Purpose. The purpose of this work is to apply the main provisions of the evaluation theory in the linguistic analysis of the text. Methodology and Approach. The article offers a method of text analysis in the aspect of the evaluation category and provides a specific example of a linguistic analysis of a fragment of a literary text. Methods of observation, generalization, and interpretation were applied. Results. In the specific text fragment, we identified means of expressing the subjective assessment of the lexical, morphological, and syntactic levels, which contribute to the adequate perception of the author's concept by the reader. Theoretical and / or Practical Implications. The results of the study contribute to the methodology of the linguistic analysis of the text.

Purpose. To evaluate the results of thirty years of efforts to smooth out the differences between the Russian and English worldviews in the use of the Russian language in international organizations, and to adjust the language policy conducted in this regard. Methodology and Approach. The author studied the texts of simultaneous and written translations into Russian, carried out at the UN in 2018-19, editorial revision, and comments on it. The causes of the regular violation of the compatibility of semantic calques challenge, responsibility, promote, commitment, welcome in terms of language contact are analyzed. A sociolinguistic experiment was conducted aimed at determining the degree of assimilation of these semantic calques by native speakers outside the UN walls. Results. The conclusion is made about the selective possibility of smoothing out of fragments of two language worldviews. Theoretical and / or Practical Implications. Concrete steps are proposed for the implementation of an effective language policy.

The scientific novelty of the study consists in identifying the politeness and sincerity of different types of responses to a question. The Theoretical Implication of the study determined that the results and conclusions can contribute to the definition of concepts such as 'sincere politeness', 'insincere politeness', 'sincere impoliteness' and 'insincere impoliteness' may serve as a theoretical basis for further research in the field of interpersonal communication. The Practical Implication of the work is that its material can be used in training courses of rhetoric, pragmatics, discourse analysis, in practical manuals on rhetoric and communication.

Purpose. The purpose of the article is to consider the concept of a communicative border as a traditionally significant one in the Russian national axiosphere. Methodology and Approach. The article analyzes national traditions in establishing or smoothing out communicative boundaries while emphasizing the features of Russian communicative behavior. During the research, methods of observation, generalization, structural and semantic analysis were applied. Results. The analysis revealed that the specificity of the Russian communicative behavior is clearly defined and set boundaries that are situationally and communicatively determined. Theoretical and / or Practical implications. The results of the research make a certain contribution to the development of the ideas of linguoaxiology, communicative studies, and anthropological linguistics.

The purpose of the article is to analyze the improvement of the communicative culture of an elementary school teacher per the new requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard of Primary General Education, which is implemented in continuing education courses at the Moscow State Educational University. Methodology and Approach. The practical experience of using the continuing education program, “Improving the communicative culture of an elementary school teacher as part of the implementation of the Federal State Educational Standard of Primary General Education” is summarized. During the study, training materials are used, the results of the planned forms of current and final checks, observation of students. Results. The author analyzes the conformity of the educational material of the program with the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard of Primary General Education, which allows increasing the communicative culture of the elementary school teacher, helping to build the interaction of teacher and student, teacher and family, teachers and colleagues. Theoretical and / or Practical implications. The article summarizes the material of the continuing education program, which allows the teacher who has taken the course to build the educational process per the stated competencies successfully.

Purpose of the article is to identify methods for optimizing the translation of texts from Chinese into Russian for their successful perception by the target audience. Methodology and Approach. It analyzes several key national-cultural differences between China and Russia, affecting the quality of translation. The methods of comparative, system, and content analysis are applied. The primary approach was chosen from the point of view of functional teleology. Results. The analysis showed that for successful translation of texts, it is necessary to classify the text per the objectives of the translation and certainly take into account cultural differences. For informational texts, the translation should convey essential information, language form, and style of the source text according to the principle of «fidelity,» and for an inducing text - focus on its calling function on the effect of transmitting information and follow the «equivalent» principle. Theoretical and / or Practical Implications. The results of the study contribute to the practice of translation from functional teleology, which allows optimizing the principles and strategies of translation for the effectiveness of intercultural interaction.

Purpose. The main content of this study is to analyze the specific use of syntactic techniques from the examples of "The Adventures of Dennis" by V. Dragunsky and to identify their types and functions in comic expressions. Methodology and Approach. The analysis shows that at the syntax level, the comic techniques are incredibly diverse. Results. In addition to the cases for humorous purposes, they also play an essential role in conveying the emotions of heroes, creating character images, enhancing expressiveness, and shaping the composition of the work. So, at last, the author presents the syntactic aspect of the comic phenomena as a new approach to the study of the works of V. Dragunsky. Theoretical and / or Practical Implications. The article fills the gap in the study of syntactic comic means in V. Dragunsky's works. Materials and conclusions of the study can find application in the further study of the writer's works, in scientific studies of the comic theories, they can also be used in training courses on Russian children's literature.
