Abstract
The article analyses one of the complex components of idiom style of the author: phraseological one. Idioms are very figurative and expressive, often contain national specific elements, and this makes translation a difficult task. The author describes the fundamental ways of a phraseological translation and emphasizes parameters of idioms comparison in different languages, namely: actual semantics, stylistic coloring, phraseological image. Thanks to availability and universal inner forms in all languages we can identify 4 types of phraseological equivalents, identical in meaning, as well as phrases with little semantic similarity. The author chose Turgenev's works, as their language is literary, enriched by alive lexical and idiomatic elements, which to date have not been studied in detail. The analysis of phraseological relations between languages is intended to refute the opinion that idioms can not be translated. Even in cases when there is not a straight image correspondence, one can find identical idioms in different languages, built by one model, which is due to universal laws of human thinking. The analysis of various examples of Turgenev works in different styles allows to come to the conclusion that despite of differences between ways of expressions in the construction of common phraseological model, the meaning of idiom, stylistic allocation are translated very accurately, in most cases such translation is the only possible one.
