Abstract
The materials of the article, which give the basis for the understanding of the creative heritage of the poet and journalist Lydia Shelest (1901-1986) in the context of the Russian literature of the 20th century, help to produce her creative biography. Poetry of Shelest clearly reflected the difficult stages in the history of our country in the 20th century and can be considered a unique artistic document of the epoch. The article highlights the author’s main themes in poetry and journalism. Among them is the image of a small motherland, the military-patriotic works and love poems.
