Leitmotif of equality in early American literature
Abstract
The article presents analysis of
equality as one of the most important constituent
parts of American self-consciousness in the
XVII century literature. It accentuates various
interpretations of this multiaspect phenomenon
in early works of such pre-national authors as
William Bradford, John Wintrop, Anna Bradstreet,
Roger Williams and others and shows
the attitude of the mentioned above authors to
the essence of the analysed category.
