Abstract

The aim of this study is to outline the attitude of authors of textbooks, anthologies and manuals on Russian literature in relation to Russian female writers. Methodology. The article discusses textbooks, anthologies and manuals on Russian literature (1820-1850) which mention female writers or include texts of their works. Results. It is concluded that two approaches to the perception of the female writers’ work can be outlined: considering it as a kind of separate phenomenon, which deserves condescension and encouragement (Galakhov, Mizko); its perception as an integral part of literary process (Grech, Peninsky, Askochensky, Zelenetsky). Research implications. The article is the first attempt to give a picture of the representation of female writers in textbooks on the history of Russian literature, as well as to analyze the attitude of the authors to the problem of female literature.
