Journal History

The journal is the successor to “Uchenye zapiski MOPI im. N.K. Krupskaya”, which in 1978 received permission from the Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission of the USSR and the State Committee for Publishing of the USSR for the right to publish the main results of doctoral dissertations. The topics of publications corresponded to the scientific specialties 10.02.01 – the Russian language, 10.01.01 – Russian literature, and 10.01.03 – Literature of foreign countries, and to the profile of dissertation councils at Federal State University of Education.

In 1998, the scientific journal "Bulletin of Moscow Region State University" began to be published.

Since 2004, the title of the journal has been Bulletin of Moscow Region State University. Series: Russian Philology. P.A. Lekant, Doctor of Philology, Professor, and Honored Worker of Science of the Russian Federation, was the editor-in-chief at the moment of the foundation of this series.

After "Scientific Notes" and "Linguistic Collections", the "Russian Philology" series began to enjoy popularity and fame among scientists and students. Papers of the series, representing the lexical and grammatical structure of the Russian language, the language of fiction, reflect the current state of linguistics, and studies of the work of Russian and foreign writers, a comparative analysis of their works reflect the state of the art of literary science with their characteristic tendency to establish interdisciplinary links and use the achievements of related sciences, based on modern paradigms of scientific knowledge.

At the departments of the Faculty of Russian Philology, the scientific schools of V.N. Anoshkina (Doctor of Philology, Professor, and Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation) and P.A. Lekant (Doctor of Philology, Professor, and Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation) are widely acknowledged. The "Russian Philology" series is a platform for these scientific schools with their annual reports. The philological series of the Bulletin of Moscow Region State University has become an important link in the unified system of training highly qualified personnel at the university. The journal is addressed to scientists, teachers, doctoral students, postgraduate students and everyone who is interested in the achievements of philological science.

Since 2023, the Journal has been called “Russian Studies in Philology".
