Abstract

The article is devoted to insufficiently studied aspect of V. Shalamov’s creativity. It is proved that Shalamov’s works are a reflected perception of life as a wholeness, and that leads to quite versatile and harmonious picture of the world in Shalamov’s poetry. The author of the article comes to the conclusion that as the basis of his creativity Shalamov considered not only his personally endured painful experience, but also life itself with its organic flow. It is noted that in Shalamov’s worldview very important role is played by the idea of opposition of life itself and mechanical schematics in any of its forms. The article builds a number of parallels with Pasternak’s creativity: reveals the similarities and differences in worldview of the two poets, and explains Shalamov’s important idea that not only life determines the course of creativity, but creativity influences the life.
