N. LESKOV AS AN ARTICLE WRITER IN THE “MODERN MEDICINE” NEWSPAPER

Abstract
The article deals with the early period of creative work of the great Russian writer Nikolay Leskov and the medical topic of his articles in Kiev newspaper “Modern Medicine” in 1860. It is specially noted that Leskov is not only an original outstanding writer but also a talented and bold journalist. In his early articles one can see the features of the literary style of the future master of a word. The article states the social focus of N. Leskov’s early works and the realism - how the writer followed N. Gogol’s and M. Saltykov-Shchedrin’s writing traditions.
