The Russian Language as a Unifying Force of the Peoples of Russia

Abstract
Aim. To give a comprehensive analysis of the state of the Russian language in the field of speech culture and linguistic ethics, making a short excursus into the history of origin and development of a constantly updated scientific and applied integral discipline.
Methodology. The main content of the study is the analysis of language units. The analysis of the researchers’ views on the problem of the modern Russian language in the context of the speech culture is given .
Results. The extra-linguistic reasons that determine the negative language phenomena are revealed, as well as the relationship between democratic transformations in the society and the liberalization of linguistic, communicative and ethical norms is established.
Research implications. A clarification of the concept of “democratization” of linguistic processes and its role in the development of the Russian language as a state language uniting more than 190 peoples in the Russian Federation is proposed. The materials can be used in the practice of teaching the Russian language and culture of speech.
