Статья посвящена проблеме инако- вости в творчестве кубино-американских романис- тов. Оппозиция «свое - чужое» является для иммиг- рантской культуры одним из важнейших элементов в формировании национальной идентичности. В ро- манах Кристины Гарсия и Оскара Ихуэлоса можно проследить явление «бикультурации», состояние неустойчивого равновесия, при котором невозмож- но выделить доминирующую и субординирующую культуры. В попытке перевести культурные коды на универсальный язык творчества они находят воз- можность преодоления собственной инаковости и формирования целостной идентичности.
The article focuses on problem of otherness in creativity of Cuban-American novelists. The opposition «own - foreign» is one of the major elements in formation of national identity for immigrant culture. It is possible to track biculturation in Christina Garcia and Oscar Hijueloss novels, situation where the two cultures achieve a balance that makes it difficult to determine which is the dominant and which is the subordinate culture. In attempt to translate cultural codes on universal language of art they find possibility to overcome their otherness and form the complete identity.
